MONTHLY MUSE SERIES _ MARCH _ REWORKING AN OLDER PAINTING
Welcome to my monthly studio release of affordable, original art. Each month, I choose a different theme or 'muse' to work with; to give myself a chance to explore and experiment with different mediums, subject matter, techniques and more. My last series called Sunday Still Life, ran for 150 weeks and really expanded my painting practice, so I am eager to see what this monthly release brings.

March has been all about re-working an older painting - taking what I thought was unsalvageable and problem solving it to create a finished piece that I am happy with. I really believe that you can only push through a work like this once you've given it a bit of time: I had actually started this piece in November last year and it was destined for that month's release. Things didn't go to plan (that sometimes happens) and so I put it away for the last 3 months, to give it a bit of space. As soon as I got it back out and on the easel again, I knew what I had to do! I took my time to keep as much of the wacky underpainting as I thought was needed, and then refined the rest into something more my style.
