MONTHLY MUSE SERIES _ JANUARY _ TASMANIA
Welcome to my monthly studio release of affordable, original art. Each month, I choose a different theme or 'muse' to work with; to give myself a chance to explore and experiment with different mediums, subject matter, techniques and more. My last series called Sunday Still Life, ran for 150 weeks and really expanded my painting practice, so I am eager to see what this monthly release brings.

January's release has been inspired by a trip down to Tasmania! I was visiting Tassie earlier in the month to co-run a Bloom art retreat at Enclave in Winnaleah (an hour and a half NE of Launceston) with my friend and business partner Kate Quinn. After the retreat, we drove all over Tassie, painting, sketching and collating inspiration for a few days, staying at Moon Tide at Greens Beach and Captains Rest, outside Strahan, finishing our trip with a visit to MONA in Hobart before flying home. It was a perfect art nerd trip! I began this collection while we were travelling around and completed it in my studio back in Brisbane. You can see some photos below and if you click on a painting, there is a little story behind the inspiration or creation of each of them.
This collection is a mix of landscapes and still life in acrylics on either timber board or polycotton canvas. I had taken flat, unstretched canvas in my suitcase, so once I was back, I stretched the paintings in the studio so they are ready to hang. I feel so lucky to have gone on this trip - I hope you can feel the calm and gratitude in the work too.
